Bilectron was a subcontractor to RDA Inc, on a project to develop a breadboard / brassboard of a VHF modulator test unit for a DOD research and development program. The function and operation of this unit are proprietary, however the generic features of the unit can be described. The unit features are:
A modular architecture in a stacked PC/104 form factor
Heavy diecast Aluminum powdercoated chassis and anodized Aluminum sleeve, which is removable for test
Internal UPS operation provided by internal SLA battery and integral charger unit
Integration of PC/104 FPGA and OEM DDS boards with custom designed mixed signal and RF PC/104 boards
160 Msps capable 12 bit DAC board designed for low noise and spurious output
All frequencies derived from a single low phase noise OCXO based clock generator
Custom filters for baseband and RF, including a group delay compensated wideband filter achieving +/- 0.5 dB flatness over the band.
